Stop Ford's Attack on Tenant Rights

WHEREAS the government has announced a new set of proposed changes to the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) that would strip away key tenant protections, make it easier for your landlord to evict you, and leaves the door open to ending rent control as we know it in Ontario;

WHEREAS this is an attack on tenant rights;

WHEREAS Ontario is already in a housing crisis with skyrocketing rents, stagnant wages, and at least 80,000 Ontarians currently unhoused.

Therefore we the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to:

  • Stop the vindictive attack on tenants rights at the LTB, and strengthen protections for renters in Ontario by immediately; implementing real rent control, banning Above Guideline Rent Increases (AGIs), and enacting a Maximum Temperature Law to protect tenants from sweltering summer heats.

  • Push for the solutions that will solve our housing crisis, like building more affordable and supportive housing.
